Thank you!

We had our Annual Blankets of Love event this morning, thank you SOOO very much for all of you who woke up early this morning to help make spread some holiday cheer at a local nursing home. Also, thank you for all of you who helped with donations, without you this event could not have happened. We had 34 volunteers show up this morning, I don't know how to thank you enough for all of your generosity of gifts and your time. We are hoping to have 3 events next year at other local nursing homes, February, July and December 2013. Thank you again to everyone!

Blankets of Love Origin

Blankets of Love began about four years, a year after my Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.  The first year I thought it would be great to take up knitting since my Mom always loved to knit and thought we could share something special together but I quickly found out knitting was not for me.  So I took my yarn and gave it to the ladies at my Mom's senior center and they made blankets, scarves and warm hats.  We had about two dozen or so and I went to a local nursing home and gave it to people there.  The following year was about the same but then last year I decided to reach out via media social and had an amazing turn out of donations and attendance at a local nursing home.

This year seems to be turning out to be more amazing than last year, we have had a great response and looking forward to expanding this event to include Christmas caroling.  We also will be having a local girls scout troop will be attending.
